“Braces for the eyes” Orthokeratology (also referred to as Ortho-K), Corneal Reshaping Therapy(CRT), Night lens or OK lens in short. These hard lenses are worn at night when you’re sleeping. It is an FDA-approved non-surgical procedure that can temporarily correct refractive errors (mainly for myopia and astigmatism). It also helps to slow down the progression of myopia by utilizing rigid gas permeable contact lenses to reshape the cornea, so that objects can be focused on the retina without wearing glasses or contact lenses. Suitable for both children and adults.
Ortho-K night lens slows down the growth of our eyeball axial length, this can be measured accurately with an Optical Biometer AL Scan. A more elongated axial length of the eye of the child means worsening of short-sightedness which will lead to higher myopia prescriptions.
An Ortho-K assessment is required to find out your suitability for these lenses.
